I would say that it was made especially for that bike, std hub maybe not strong enough?
Very unlikely John, the Shell uses Barnes spool hubs front and rear. Because it's a mile bike it doesn't use a front brake at all so this wheel is one of the left over bibs and bobs Linda the seller threw in with the bike including a Triumph Bonneville twin leader with an Akront mudcatcher that I'll probably use for dirt track. I'm hoping to use the mystery hub on my 'secret project' Fasttrack framed TM250 short tracker so I's like to know if it's pre 75 legal, being a stickler for eligibility correctness and all

Below, the brand new Barnes wheels that came with the bike. They have Buchanan stainless spokes and Borrani rims. I received the near perfect originals as well.
