82 XR500R long range fuel tank

Hey
Does anybody know what long range fuel tank will fit onto an 82 XR500R, or has anyone adapted one to suit?
Apparently the Paris-Dakar fuel tank/seat combo fit but are very hard to come by.
Thanks

Back in the day they used the open road type universal tank's,dunno what the capacity was though
,there were lots of them sold, try the wreckers you may get one cheap, nobody wants them now, they are bloody ugly but better than pushing

Hi Redrider. Did you end up finding a tank for your XR500 ? While I was having a look in my shed the other day, I stumbled across 2 long range aftermarket tanks and thought that I would post a pic up here for anyone who might be interested in them. I think that the one on the left is an Open Road (?) and the one on the right is a Malcolm Smith. The tank on the left is missing the fuel tap and the MS tank has what looks like a Husky fuel tap. I was hoping to get $50 for the tank on the left and $75 for the MS. I can bring them with me to CD10, if anyone is interested.
