Pre '90 CR500 '88
« on: April 28, 2013, 02:40:44 pm »
A mate brought this in from California. A very tidy original '88 CR500. Looks to have done bugger all work. Has the usual paint missing, I had the rear shock serviced by SOS in Penrith, new fork seals and oil, new seat cover, new chain and sprockets, new Renthal bars and grips, new guards and front plate, re painted Pro Circuit pipe and Answer silencer. I just went over it and tidy'd it up. Has no slop in the footpegs or kickstarter, no damage to the rails under the engine, all bushes and bearings tight etc. Only thing that I know is a couple of flat spots in the front rim which were there when I got it.
It really is a good clean original example, which I don't really want to sell, but it's just too much bike for me, only ridden it 3 or 4 times and it kills me every time. I really wanted to keep it for ever as it's an awesome bike, and I'll never get another 5hungy, but I'm looking to upgrade the roadie, so I'll offer this up for sale. Also have a few spares, plastics, another tank, gaskets, radiators etc as well. I'd like to think it is worth $3500 even in this market. Any questions, shoot me a PM. Cheers Adam. Bike is in Sydney.

How I got it,

This is how it is now, I have stripped and re painted the pipe and clutch cover since these pics were taken.

Mate, I'd love to take this off your hands but I can't afford the divorce that would come with it.  :'(

The two red devils above look good to me, I am sure one of them has a few more Kilometers than the other.

It's only one bike not 2. The first photos are when Ad's got the bike and the rest are as it's currently sits. This bike goes awesome and feels really tight when riding it. A real bargain for anyone looking for an 88 model.
Let's face it some dirt bikes were never meant to be ridden.

Lets make it clear,
The chick is wearing Red - therefore a red devil
The 480 is another red devil with less k's on the clock

Let's not worry about specifics, bottom line is she's "legal"  :D  ;)

A good result with the auction $4450. Gotta be happy with that.
