1983 Mr Motocross vid
« on: May 05, 2013, 06:33:33 pm »
Just noticed somebody uploaded the 83' Mr MX vid on youtube.
Looks like a bit of the start is missing, but probably ok to watch for those who haven't seen it.

Was going to upload my Mr MX tape, but someone beat me to it.  :-\
Although I think mine is still in good nick.

How cool. Hows the old school riding style, sit down everywhere, elbows down, looking down at the front wheel everywhere  :)

Yes, forgot to mention to say thank-you to the up-loader of the Vid. Cheers.

Would also love to see more old Mr MX footage from other years.
If I remember right, didnt the ABC televise the "Pepsi Mr Motocross" in the late 70's ?

Hey Woody, found the 1978 Castrol 6 hour if interested.

Youtube has quite a bit of 6 hour stuff if thats any help. But they might only be small segments of different events.

Wow that RM500 of Goofs is quick. It looks significantly faster than Williams KX500 and Leisks CR...

I think it was only the Queensland round, where Gall stuffed the OW engine into a YZ250K chassis, being a center port engine.
Dont know why he retired the bike after one round though ?
Some people were commenting back then that Gall looked a bit out of character on the bike, or a bit twitchy out of controlish.

How good does a 500cc two stroke sound going up the old Broadford straight ;D

I like the look of the Broadford track running that way with the long uphill start straight.  The stutters looked difficult even for the pro's...
