Looks like fairly low hrs/use. Did these have Mag cylinders?

Would the road tires put you off? I've been told that riding bikes like this at steady speeds ie. commuting, can wear them out more than riding on the dirt?  Just what I've been told, not gospel

The magnesium were phased out during the 87 model run I am told so this 88 model is most probably alloy but no guarantees.

 The bike looks in very good order. The exhaust is a monstrosity though  :o :o No idea why you would change it from one pipe per side to run both on the same side  ::) Not even a two into one.
It's got the optional WP 4052 USD forks which look trick  :D

The ignition seems to be the MX Version which has the stator mounted to the hot inner crankcase rather than the cooler outer ignition cover like in the TE and TX models. Maybe cooked and needs replacing. Maybe a broken wire too  ;D

Looks like a good buy at current price ..... with free delivery between Brisbane and Sydney even better.

Am I correct in thinking that this model (and other '88 models of course) are the last made by the original Swedish factory, just prior to the Cagiva buy out? It'd be a collector item for that alone. As good a bike they are, they sure are ugly buggers, the styling department had obviously already jumped ship ;).

Having owned a few TE510s this bike is actually a 1989 TE510 from when Cagiva were getting up to speed with manufacturing Huskys. Cagiva dumped the Swedish designed two strokes but continued to evolve the 4 stroke. Guessing it's a US import by the USD forks, spark arrestors, stacked exhaust (89 only), US headlight, and adoption of the 2 stroke air box. Dirt Bike magazine tested the 89 TE510 against ATK604s and just released Husaberg 501, it was starting to show it's age a bit by this stage...
