Sorry for the thread hijack as well....
I am just rebuilding a 1988 RM 250J and heres the running $ total -lucky to have friends in the trades etc but I have also added a lot of unnecessary NOS parts -

Initial bike purchase and shipping from USA- NZD$2200
Full Engine rebuild (top end/bottom end, including three new gears and painting)- NZD$700.
Frame blasting and painting -NZD$150.
New tyres -NZD$200.
New cosmetics (all new plastics, graphics)- NZD$250.
New old stock pro circuit pipe and Answer silencer -NZD$300
Various NOS parts etc ie new brake hoses, brake pedal, master cylinder, swingarm chain buffers, new airbox, fork legs -NZD$700
New O ring Chain -NZD$120
Shock and forks serviced NZD$250.

Grand total  NZD$4900 =AUD$3920 @0.81 FX.

I havent rebuilt wheels or had the swingarm polished which would be another NZD$1000.
