RM250X-what is it worth
« on: February 02, 2013, 10:58:21 am »
Well, the time has come to sell my much loved RM250X. It is a one owner before i got it in 2009, the previous owner bought it as a run out in July 82 (i have the owners manual with the purchase date and details!) and as such it was all original. i did a total job on it, everything was stock std, but just worn! i replaced eveything !  new, mains, piston kit, rebore, chain and sprockets, swingarm and bellcrank bearings, wheel bearings, 43mm "D" model TLS front end (still have the original front end) flatslide carb, renthal bars all cables, etc, etc,  etc, NOS plastics, MXM perforated graphics. What does everybody think is a fair price ? i dont really want to sell it, but i have a post 90 bike to ride in Viper, and the X has done an awsome job, and would love to just keep it, but having a young family means you have to be realistic some times.

Yes it is a fast bike especially with you on it !  Whoever buys it will have a competitive and sorted machine without having to touch it.  Being an X I would probably say around the $3.5k mark - probably worth more but bike prices are down....

Should get at least $3.5k. The X is rare compared to the heaps of Z and D's that are in Aus and the states.

You may get more if you want to hold out. I would put it on eBay for $4k and see what happens.

Again because it is rare you might find it gets more interest.

Still you never know until you put a for sale sign on it!

Given the big amount of $ put into it, (as we all know you never realy get the money back we put in !) and as scunge mentions they arent as plentiful as z's and d's, that it should be around the $4k mark. If any one is interested that is the figure i would like. i will try to get some pics up when i get time.

It is a bit hard to get good dollars for a good bike these days. unless it has the mechanicals sorted and looks a grade too.
Did Big K build it ? cause i noted you are from Bendigo

Brett, no i built it myself (i am a motorcycle mechanic by trade !), but coincidently, i live about 5 mins from BigK. If i ever want anything painted top quality i get K to do it, the man can paint like you wouldnt beleive!

Good 250x"s are worth that given most of them get their cases chewed out by the main bearings and are hence rare.
$4K is the mark to aim for.

A bike is worth what some one will pay for it and theres a bum for every seat,so it will sell.Put a good price on and you will soon no how the market is,if your not in a hurry to sell you can wait for it to  sell.
