1982 XL500R

I recently bought a 1982 XL500R for $1200

Originally I bought it so i could go trail riding with my son, but on its first outing it broke the linkage in the carby. When I say first outing, it was the first time I was going to ride the bike and it died after about the first 30 seconds during warmup. After looking a lot more closely at it it was evident it needed a bit of work to make it reliable.

The motor was supposedly rebuilt 500 k's ago, but it looks like its had a few coats of paint so I want to get it blasted and give it a fresh coat.
Also want to blast and re-coat the frame as it has a bit of surface rust around it.

Ive ordered new throttle cables for it, and some new stainless bolts for the engine. The front and back guards aren't original and are a bit dodgy, so looking for some to replace them.

Im not looking to do a full restoration, just a bit of a tidy up.
