REVS Motorcycle News.
« on: November 16, 2012, 01:51:37 pm »
I'm fast running out of storage space so I must reluctantly get rid of over 100 issues of REVS Motorcycle News ranging in dates from 1978 to 1987 but mostly from the early to mid eighties.
Free to a good home but I'd prefer someone pick 'em up or I can drop 'em off if you're close to Sydney's glorious western suburbs. PM me.

I've just spent a wasteful couple of hours reading old Eric and Douglas comics. They were hilarious but not as funny as that certifiable old facist Edgar F Penzig's column. He makes Alan Jones and those other right wing radio creeps look like communists ;D.

Edgar displays his method for controlling thong nongs, lazy layabouts and dole bludgers

My memorry of Edgar was as a 10 year old at the Vintage MCC Xmas get together at the Milperra community hall, all us kids were sitting in the mosh pit :D and I was totally mesmerised by his booming voice and talk of Aussie bush rangers.

A big thanks to Firko for dropping off a veritable mountain of Revs magazines to me in the city yesterday.

Spent a wonderful 30 minutes at my desk yesterday arvo flicking through them, while getting lots of odd looks from my non-bike riding workmates.  It was interesting to see how many closet dirt bikers came out of the woodwork to flick through them too!

Managed to squeeze 20 of them into my carry-on for the trip back to Brissie last night.  Next week, I can see I'll be taking an empty suitcase down with me.  never use the checked luggage allowance anyway.  I'll just have to be careful to stay within the 20kg wight limit!

Thanks again Mark, they're greatly appreciated!

Tony

My pleasure Tony, I'm glad they've gone to a good home. I'll dig out the rest over the next few days and drop 'em down to you.

oooh I remember they gave good coverage of the early 80's supercross events, they'd be great to read.

"And you can bet four rabbit traps to an old black billy on that"

The good old days! Picking up the latest issue of REVS black print on news sheet.
Flick through for pics, check out race results, then read Edgars column.
I am straining my brain cells to remember the bloke who started REVS, I can see his face, in my minds eye.
He was a force to be reckoned with on a Vincent outfit at Oran Park.
  GOT IT ...Noel Manning!
Curses! I never kept any copies.
 cheers pancho.

Edgar's column was the first thing I read in every issue.  I found it the funniest stuff in the magazine, he was an ultra right wing version of Alan Jones and to a young lefty like me his outbursts always brought on a real chuckle. He'd be chucking a right wobbly with the clowns (on both sides) in today's Canberra.
