Wanted 73, 74 400
« on: August 07, 2012, 10:07:23 pm »
Does anyone know where I might be able to get hold of a 73 or 74 380-400 CZ??
I know it may be difficult, but you guys on the eastern side tend to have a bit more options of availability.
I actually have a frame awaiting a motor, I have a 250 for it, but would rather a big bore.
However, if I can get hold of a complete bike, I can build the 250 anyway.

How much money do you want to spend? There is a 73 400 for sale at Dead Dog Racing in Brisbane for 8000 thats the only one I know of at the moment. They sometimes come up on Oz ebay.Another option is to buy a bike  or an engine in the US and get it shipped over.Vintage Extreme motorcycles in QLD are a fairly new operation and they seem to have a lot of imported stuff from US,though again its pretty pricey.
I thought the West was the home of pre 75 in OZ? :D

Yeh, good call,
I was gonna do that anyway, coz Pete only lives around the corner from here.
Not sure if he's got any big bores, he's mainly got 250's but he might know of their whereabouts.
My other options I thought might be Boagy??
Thanks Boys

In reading a lot of posts, I hear that Harrisville is quite a good venue.
On our way home from Wyaralong, we had to drop my nephew off at Beenleigh, we went home via the Motorway past Ipswich Raceway and I noticed the sign post to Harrisville off to the left. Boy I loved that weekend up there. Didnt quite end up how I would of liked, but everything was F$#^%$n superb. Track, venue, timings for events and most of all, People. Cannot wait for next year. Hopefully with you guys help, I'll have I nice 400 to ride as well :D

Gents there was a very original straight 73 CZ 380 at CD9. Not restored but in like new condition - would need a full rebuild - Price was $6000. I couldn't afford it but I did want it.
