Went for a ride on my '76 TC125 this morning along a favourite section....looked back to see my lovely plume of blue smoke and it wasn't there....
Oh good, I thought...the oil tank is finally empty and I can put some fresh R30 in it. (I've ridden the bike for 18 months without knowing what actual oil that was in there) Glanced down at the next stop sign at the peek window and it still showed oil....I pulled into a side street and took the cover off. Still 1/8th of a litre left but no oil in the short feeder line to the pump...although oil was present at start up as she smoked as normal.
I nursed the bike the 1/2mile back to home and set about taking the oil tank off. Wrestled with the "I'm not budging" hardened plastic feeder hose for ages and eventually removed and drained the tank. I would describe the ensuing sight with a sound....a bit like "Ploop". Yep, my oil tank laid a Tosca.....
You can even see the shape of the feeder line entry at the top left.
I would say I was very lucky I like to look back at where I been sometimes.....
Cheers,
Chris.
PS: the drain bowl already had some crappy gearbox oil/water in it. There was maybe 50mil of free oil left in the tank, but blocked by jelly.
