'81 RM465X
« on: February 09, 2013, 09:54:46 am »
After thinking about it for a while, and after saying I wouldn't sell it, I have decided to offer my RM up for sale. This is a genuine reluctant sale, but if I'm honest with myself, I can use the money for important things like school fee's and the like :'( :'(.

So, here are some pics of what I have done. Basically I went from top to bottom and replaced what was needed, cleaned and re-used what was sevicable. The whole bike has been repainted and re plated, all genuine plastics and parts where available. This is not a nut and bolt correct resto. It has RM500D swingarm, struts and bell crank, and a TLS front, and flat slide carby, .75mm OS Rocky Cycles piston and ring, shock was rebuilt by Teknic at Penrith, all new bearings and seals throughout, Uni Filter filters, new genuine cables, crank shaft big end was measured and within tolerance so was left alone but new main bearings and seals etc etc. Has a very nice original exhaust and muffler and wheels, new Michelin S12 tyres.

I haven't ridden it since I finished it, I couldn't bring myself to dirty it :-[, but I can see no reason why this bike wouldn't be a good base for a racebike or to just look at like I do. I have kept all the bags of NOS and new parts so you can see what has been replaced. I have an owners manual and workshop manual and a few new parts as well. Ring me would be best and I can give you more details - 0407 913 Seven Eight Four. There is probably a lot that I have forgotten. Bike is in Sydney. Looking at $4000.  Adam.

It`s days like this i wish i had some extra funds behind me,
i would already be on the highway to pick your bike up and give ya the cash.

That`s an immaculate RM and well worth the asking price, awesome job on the resto mate.  I`m a Yamaha man thru and thru but wouldn`t hesitate to buy this bike. I would be surprised to see this take long to sell.    Regards Peter.

Adam, that's a beautiful RM465.  As everyone says, the market is stuffed if you can't get $4K for that.  >:(

I reckon the market might well be stuffed - just as suspected :-\. Oh well.

It's not a good time to sell Adam.  That is a gorgeous bike.
Looking for YZ250C parts NOS if possible
