RM 250N kickstarter
« on: September 19, 2012, 05:01:59 pm »
I have fitted a nos kickstarter to my 250n to find it hits against the cylinder/head, one spline back puts it back over the sidecover, looking at the manual I suspect the internal stoper has worn or what it rests against. question? is this accesable without splitting the cases or does anyone know of another solution?
Cheers Nob

Grind a notch in the cyl head or cut and reweld the kickstarter arm as I did (but I'm only kicking ovr a 125).  :-)

Pretty much a common problem if the dots are not matched( kick shaft & stopper) when you split the cases and pull the kicker apart  ;) ;)
No there is no easy fix.

There is an temp fix but it may or may not be exceptable to some. Fit a rubber strap or loop to the frame to hold it back off the fins until you have the engine split. Depends how pedantic you may or may not be but if it's a ride bike it would work for me ;D

Heh, both my IT175 and RM250T use the 'works' rubber strap method of securing the kickers...  'Works' just fine. A little awkward but after owning a Husky CR500 for a couple of years it's luxury.

Thanks guys for the advice  8), I didn't have to split the engine for the rebuild, the bottom end was good. so I might grind a bit off the end of the lever, its only just touching but bloody annoying >:(
Thanks Nob
