DT1
« on: August 20, 2012, 08:28:26 pm »
Mate of mine is doing a full resto on a DT1 and wants to know if the original white tanks were white or a pearl white, with a little bit of metallic. The headlight shell is just white and we think it's the original colour.

Help apprepreciated thanks MARTIN

In guess Yamaha has no paint code for the white tank DT-1, but I found this posted on an Enduro site:

Paint the tank black first. Tape out the stripe and use House of Color's white base coat BC01 I think. just enough to cover. Then one or two coats of HOK Sliver White Pearl. Peel off pinstriping tape and clear over it all. I know there are a million different combos, but I have found this one over the years to work very well.

My painter's gone AWOL but I do recall that he painted the tank a Mazda pearl white which matched the original almost perfectly. H did lay the black for the stripe first and then masked it with 1/4 masking take and sprayed the tank....I wasn't there during the process but that's how he described it to me.
