We scored some good "pickings" while we where there after Bill thought we'd get our marching orders after a few choice comments by me early on.
You've certainly got the knack old mate
. Did you or Bill get any photos of the blokes stash? Ray Johnson introduced me to a bloke at Timaru who'd made a bunch of Kiwi built Metisse copies back in the sixties. He reckoned that some made it to Australia and even the US which possibly explains this bikes current home. The Matchless G50 powered bike I looked at was really well made but closer a inspection showed many different aspects to the Metisse, especially the swingarm/rear wheel adjustment set up. I wish I'd got more into the conversation with the guy and learned a bit more of the frames history. I can't remember his name but would he be the same bloke you guys met on the North Island? I got the impression he was a Christchurch local.
