Recently acquired 74 Mt/Cr Elsinore 125
« on: July 11, 2012, 09:51:00 pm »
So today I unexpectedly picked this up on my work travels while in orbost Vic, the bike is only ordinary but I didn't pay a whole lot for it so all in all I'm happy enough. I have no real idea what it is though, it was sold to me as 74 mt125 with a cr125 engine in it but I'm a Honda ignoramus so I wouldn't even know. The bike has a downswept pipe, does this necessarily mean its a cr engine or is a downswept easily placed to a mt engine/frame?? I'll try post pics when possible, also the bloke I bought it off said he bought it off a bloke in Sydney about 18 months ago, maybe this rings a bell to someone here?? Bike also came with spare mt tank (aluminum tank fitted) spare front wheel, stock shocks (nackered) some forks, supposed cr seat and again a supposed 74 cr125 spare barrell/piston/nos rings.

She's only a hack job but I think worth the $800 i paid????

Cheers, Brendan

Hi Brendan. The frame number should tell you what frame you have, same as the engine number provided the chain hadn't come off in its life time and smashed the numbers off ( very common). The mt barrel has a bolt hole on the inlet side for the oil feed and the head has two plugs. 125's had a steel tank so at a guess you have a 250 cr tank on the bike. Mt tank has a blue stripe and the tap is different.
Hope this helps to I'd some of the stuff.

Cheers mate, i have since done the research to find its just and MT125 heavily bastardised to look CR'ish. Which  im not all that fussed about cause i didnt pay a whole lot for it and got some bits with it also. All in all it'll do for the few scramble meets ill get in a year  :)

Gee I liked the side covers do you want to sell?,
Good thing about your bike is it has the 76' 77'  model pipe which is the hot ticket, just need a CR topend and  CDI ignition and your away

Cheers
Noel

The side cover are garbage, you're welcome to have them if you're ever anywhere near Bacchus Marsh
