Without trying to sound like an engineering wizard, I can't see it ever being a viable project.

Written in big letters all over it is "Experimental"
It was a test bed of ideas that he turned into a reality
Backwards cylinders are only now becoming common place

Mechanically it's impossible to provide the same amount of drive to the front wheel as the rear

I don’t think the intention is to get the same drive to the front as the rear. I believe the 2WD works best with a small amount of drive to the front so the front can help pull in certain conditions.
I think that’s what makes the hydraulic systems better than any mechanical drive system as the hydraulics can be controlled easier to provide different drive to each wheel.

I believe the Ohlin’s system has a sensor on the front and rear wheel’s that determines how much drive to give the front wheel depending on what the back wheel is doing.

Interesting, though it looks like it should have 'John Deere' stickers all over it  ;)

I agree with Geoff - easy to set a common hydraulic drive/pump setup to supply varying amounts of drive to either end through a proprotional valve or similar.  Could even make it adjustable if needed.
