Thanks cyclegod that is the corrcet shape, an '83 but '81-'83 all the same seat just the cover varies. That one doesn't look in great shape either and the seller will not ship to Oz.

'84 and later repo foams are available but '81-'83 is not available. Anyone know someone in NSW (preferrably Hunter Valley) who can make a new seat foam

I have an idea that the XL185 seat foam would be pretty close/identical in shape

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1982-Honda-XL185S-XL185-XL-185-Seat-/230820445395?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35bdf87cd3

The xr uses a plastic base and the xl a steel base, I think ::)

Might be the same shape, or at least the same shape foam but?

Pretty certain I have an 81 185 here somewhere, but the seat was toast, me thinks. ummmm, time for a trip and a dig into the bad lands hey, ummm.

Thats the fella Mick. The stuff listed is nowhere near the range he does. I got a CB500/4 cover awhile ago - heat embossed and printed too, a great match to the original.
I got my covers yesterday - excellent as always!  ;D

Hey Greg,

Give Mario at Topline Upholstery a call he can rebuild your original base with a new foam.

Another plug for Mario.
He does all my seats and my mates as well. Takes great care in restoring them to original. He also modifies ours when needed.
I just recently had him modify one of my RM250X seats by building up the foam at the front of the seat and make a new cover. It has changed the feel and egos of the bike that much I might bring it back out of retirement. Wished I'd now got it done when I was racing it a couple of years ago.
He is the seat guru  ;D
