*SOLD* 1975 Suzuki RM125M *SOLD*
« on: March 27, 2012, 07:48:11 pm »
**SOLD**

Suzuki RM125M (not an S), 1975 model.  Gotta go to make way for new project. I've had this bike as my main VMX racer for about 5 years now, and it's been a reliable and fun machine in that time. This bike is in good solid condition and would make an excellent basis for a concourse resto. It is located in canberra.

The good:

Tyres are fine
Chain and sprockets good
All wheel/swingarm/steering bearings, seals etc fine
YSS shocks, rebuilt 2 hours ago
Tank straight, no dings, original but tatty paint
Great seat base, fresh foam and cover
Plastics good
Vintage Iron pipe, plus original
Recently replaced all spokes
Fresh brake shoes
Fresh piston and rings, small end bearing and pin, clutch, all with less than 2 hours on them
Box of bits and pieces and spares, includes several pistons, rings, gaskets, gearbox,  sprockets, cylinder, several heads, engine covers etc.

I completely overhauled the engine when I first bought the bike, so the rod, all bearings, seals and so  on were replaced at the time. The bottom end has less than 20 hours on it.

The bad

It suffered ignition failure about 6 months ago. I traced this to a failed coil in the stator which was replaced with a NOS part. This improved  things but it still wasn't right last time I rode it. I have recently gone right over the wiring  and checked all components and everything seems good, but haven't had a chance to test it.

The interesting

The bike currently in dirt track guise as I was considering doing DT with it. So, I've added a 34mm  carb on an original 'S' manifold, and it has a Uni filter clamped to that. Rear tyre is a Mitas  trials, and it's geared up over standard. However, original 28mm carb and throttle plus  original airbox in perfect condition comes with it.

Basically, the bike is an honest racer if you are chasing a 1975 RM125. It has always gone well  and I can't really fault it. I don't think it needs anything other than converting back to MX  (ie a tyre, front guard, fit original airbox back on it). The only reason for sale is to buy a bigger bike to use as a Classic Dirt ride.

$1400 firm, and I can deliver to within an hour or two of Canberra. You'll have to make your  own arrangements if you live further away.

PM, email (ozvmx at bigpond.com) or call me on 0427696613 any time.

As setup for MX:

The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

I agree Nathan but the only issue is the ignition.  Have you resolved the ignition issuesfully Graeme?

Priced cheap to sell quick, which is exactly what happened. Next project? Well, not that exciting really. I've bought an RM250T to ride at Classic Dirt. I'm not into racing anymore, other than dirt track on the modern bike.

As for the ignition, I think it's OK but I just haven't had a chance to test ride it since I replaced the stator coil. Everything checks out, so it might just be the jetting that need sorting as I changed the carb for a 34mm one and I haven't done the work to get that sorted yet.

Bugger, would have loved this one if I had been around online (and quick enough) at the time.
