XR 600 1985 question.
« on: April 07, 2012, 02:08:47 pm »
Anyone know what year XR's went from twin to single carbs ?
Looking at one of these, anyone had anything to do with them now or in the past?

88 or 89 had one of those and top bike for trail riding or play racing,88 seems to ring bells better then 89 does

XR 600 ran dual carbies 1985-1987, we didn't get the 1987 model in Oz for reasons unknown. First single carb was 1988 & had a number of changes like 18" rear wheel, smaller rear hub (!!), nikasil liner in cylinder and minor cosmetic changes. All good bikes; but were heavy and sometimes suffered from weak stators making hard to start. The twin carby models went a bit harder but were a hassle to tune carbs.

Watch for the gearbox gremlins of the 350. I remember when they were the bike of choice for trail riding and it seemed like every second one broke a gear/shaft of some description.
