1972 KTM 175 PARTS WANTED
« on: February 15, 2012, 10:26:37 pm »
Probably wishful thinking, but I'm after the following parts for a 72 KTM 175:

Front wheel with brake backing plate. (Alloy hub, steel rim)
Rear brake backing plate. (LHS)
RHS number plate in aluminium. (blue and yellow)
Carby (think it's 30mm Amal)
Kickstarter
Rear shocks

Please email.

Checked the frame number and it was built Aug 1972. (7-208*****)
Not sure whether it's MX or enduro actually.
Not looking for a mint restore, just want to fit what is missing and try to get it running.

 I Think you have a 1977 model

the 7 in the frame number is the year it was made
Now need the numbers off the engine on the r/h side under the exhaust pipe near the engine bolt .

should look some thing like 7 - 520#####

the 7 is the year 1977  the 52 is the engine size 175cc

No, it's older than that.
Has a fibreglass tank with the leather strap.
Looks just like the Penton Jackpiner.
But with KTM on the tank.
I have photos, but can't paste them up??

77 models have the strap and fiberclass tank etc
Here is a pic of my 77 250. I removed the strap from the tank.

No, much older than yours.
The tank is shaped like a toaster??
And the rear shocks aren't laid forward. (straight up and down)
I'll keep trying with the photos.

Always depends on what you are prepared to pay. Check eBay USA for Pentons. Can get stuff from 175 or 125. Front hub aluminium till 72/73 then mag when new 250 came out with new frame and 35 cerianis. Rear backing plate USA prob best bet. RHS number plate again USA or fabricate. Carby can be 30mm Bing USA and shocks 13.5 inches. Kick starter from Penton Parts not original but better. In summary eBay USA or Penton Parts. Cheers Bill

Let me know what you want to do....
