Maico model?

Can any of the Maico aficionados’ confirm what year model this bike is please?

now that is a very good question that was on my lips i think it could be a 1976 with spatterings of other year models , i will send the guy a message as see.  ::)

The maico is a 1974 LTR model, as I have owned the same model but mine was a 250.

no it aint  .it from memory a 75 frame with a earlier tank ,maybee even has a 4 speed engine looks like 75 forks as well

i think les built it ike that because the guys original frame was roooted

Yeah, looks like it's a '75/76 model disguised to look like a 74.5 by using an earlier 'glass tank and mudguards.
He's even put rubber boots on the forks to give them the external spring look. Weird.

I dont know any of this bikes recent build history or owner? and I am not quite sure of any of you blokes either ::) But, I think his/hers bike presentation is as sweet as. I love the look of it.


It --IS-- a 1975 NEW GENERATION frame(it will have prefix #321)

1975 MC400's were all "U" type four speeds.

This one --IS-- fitted with a 5 SPEED 76 or 77 AW 400 Engine(no numbers supplied in listing, close or wide ratio?). It doesn't have the under engine rear chain tension-er fitted, so it is more likely to be a 76 Engine.

It has the makings of one sweet pre78 flat tracker, or for that matter if you wanted to? you could slip a 77AW Swinging arm in it. A set of 77AW fork stanchions and dampers. Rework the dampers the "Jim Page Way" Set travel at 9". Shave the seat foam down a bit if you are vertically challenged in the leg department.
And Wallah! your ass would be sitting on one sweet Pre78 open motocross mount.

I am setting one up also as a 5 speed pre78 Flat tracker.



A simple procedure to recycle one of Maico's worst models into a very competitive and sexy looking racer.
