Removing clear coat from polished alloy?

Have some parts that have had the alloy polished and then clear coated. Looking to remove clear coat as it has lifted in spots. Difficulty is other areas of the part are painted and I don't want to affect them. Ideas?

If you want to avoid using paint stripper on the clear, it can be removed with fine wet-and-dry paper but depending on the complexity of the shape of the item, it can be quite labour intensive.
