Vintage in the ACT?
« on: November 13, 2011, 04:09:48 pm »
Just back from the ACTMCC's club day where the Pre 90 club had a few races. Got chatting to another local and learned that there's been a bit of work going on recently with the aim of developing a vintage friendly track on the old KarmaGutsa track. Apparently it's all looking pretty good and the hope is that some races may be held there next year. The word is that the track should be interesting but vintage friendly. Which is, if it all comes to pass, good news for anyone from Canberra and surrounds, perhaps the South Coast. Anyway, I guess all I can say for now is, watch this space...

KarmaGutsa, what a rough old MX course that was. Used to go all the time to watch the Mr Motocross events in the 80's and can remember the time when Anthony Gunter crashed right next to us on the back straight. Will look forward to seeing it in action again.

Mmm - very good news - but what about the trees they planted all over it ?

karmgutza had a nice layout - bit rocky in places but fun.  I would be tempted to give it another go ...

The word is that it is smooth and will be maintained well.

Hi Guys, I am new to Canberra (3 weeks old) and have a few Vintage bikes and would like to get involved in the vintage scene in Canberra, so if you need any help out at karmagutsa (where ever it is) id be happy to help. Cheers Frank

Same venue as the modern track, just further up the hill.

Frank Jnr, where are you mate? (in the ACT I mean).  I'm Wanniassa, got a modern and a TT250.  There's a couple of us southside, some northside.  What a shame we weren't able to meet at the track Sunday (or have you ride there - or did you?).  What bikes you got?  Got a modern? You up for ACT club mx, and/or vintage mx only?

Im in Queanbeyan, and i was at the track on sunday walking around and having a look. I don't race moderns, but really enjoy trail riding, single track etc and have an '08 KTM450. I have a '74 cr125, '80 cr125 and a '80 cr250 honda's and im thinking of getting a '84 cr250. Im more into the vintage mx scene, for the social and fun side, not for the trophies. Im sure oneday I will get involved in the modern club, once my son is old enough to race. One thing I have quickly learned that there are plenty of places to ride over here...Cheers
