That's looking real good.. i see just a couple of things to finish yet. I'm doing one up at the moment also, is that a tall seat foam?

looking great, have any drama's during restore? not many of those models seen racing, everyone wants the 88 or 89' for pre 90. i have 2 RG 86' models and love that era. i need to get fair dinkum and sell one but can't get motivated

Back in the day, lots of people rated these ahead of the 88 and 89s - but as Hoony says, the later models are favored as pre-90 bikes. ???

The seat foam is a tall  Ceet racing foam, it's listed as a 88/89 foam but fits the 87 if you removed the peice of polystyrene on the base, they also do the cover, the stencil came from someone in italy or France I think.(ebay) It gives a much slimmer profile than the '87 seat foam.
The forks still need rechroming and one of the legs has a dent wich is causing some binding at the bottom of the stroke. Approx $600
The cylinder is completely worn out and needs a resleeve,$600  and the wheels and tyres $750.
The shock and rear braking system where complete throwaways, hence the WP which only cost about $500 landed here form US and rebuilt with new res hose, so that worked out well I thought.
Hopefully I will have it out at Bidd...Bidid....Bididahabbba....where ever that place is on the 11/12 w/end

Interesting comments Nathan.  I had heard the 88 was the pick of the bunch but having never ridden an 87 or 88 model I can't comment.  My 84 is a sweet bike to ride and recently I imported an 89 CR250 from the good 'ol US 0f A which has Mugen internals in the front forks and it's a beautiful bike to ride ... a marked improvement over the 84 IMHO.

Nathan's right, the '87 was the pick, great motor, handeling, brakes and market leading forks...rear suspension was average.
'88 they dropped the ball on the forks, changed the rear suspension and thier reputation went from bad to worse, and the motor lost a huge midrange punch.
The '89's got the motor back, but the first of the upside down showas were bad (harsh)

The '87 CR250 is one of my favorite bikes of all time.

Sadly, mine was stolen from my girlfriends kitchen in '96  :-[ and never seen again.
