TZ350 Spondon

Got offered this TZ350 with what's supposed to be a Spondon frame.
Campagnolo wheels, brembo brakes etc.

The crankshaft is missing, don't know the state the rest of the engine, but the crank was taken out while the engine was ok, so no breakdown.

Bike is in what I would say, rough but not wrecked state. A lot! of work, but quite easy restoration.

Newermind the XT500 that's in it now, wouldn't fit....

Any idea on what it's worth? Anyone know anyone they could please ask? I know nothing about roadracing.

If it's a Spondon it would be collectable and desirable.

Assuming two things, it is all there and is original.

Hi Ola, complete roller with blown motor depends on year, original and early 350 is worth quite a bit more than later one. Wheels and brakes, tacho  if TZ are worth something, maybe $600.

You can still by Spondon TZ350 frame new so not what I would describe as rare collectible .... engine is difficult and expensive to get a crank for as they were weak point as vibrate, used 250 bearing sizes and go bang even faster than 250 which is saying something, they have a couple of specialist makers in the IMHO scene but not cheap. That's why your crank is missing.

Thanks guys, we'll see what the seller thinks, good thing he let me have the bike to look over before bidding, found it needing a lot of work...

Someone said Spondonframes wasn't supposed to be plated, that was Harris, but then Harris was braced and not electrical welded like this...

Must say, the rear axle mounting/adjuster area looks most UN-Spondon-like.
They normally have an eccentric axle adjuster.

Looks like a Ducati front end with the correct period Brembo brakes, maybe Morris or Campagnolo wheels frame looks like a stock frame to me with a later model swingarm.

Good call Lozenge, Campag I'd reckon : normally five-spoke, whereas Morris are usually seven-spoke. Either way, MUST be crack-tested before entertaining the idea of giving them a gallop on-track, Ola !!

It's Campa wheels. How to cracktest?

Me too is also pretty sure it's a plated stock frame. Also there's repairs under the plating....

Idea on value, it's missing the crank.

Flat top frame rails mean early TZ maybe D,E , that alloy swingarm if TZ is G.H which has frame tubes that slope straight down from steering head to swingarm pivot. Engine is normally sand cast not black with exposed clutch, not cropped clutch cover with part pf the Yamaha cut off, my money is one RD LC engine. Front end is about as exotic as Ducati Pantah, foot peg bracket says it all.

there are quite a few old TZ rollers about as motor gives up long before the chassis, If you really had to have it $500 would be enough.
