i reckon its a bit over priced for what it is.  seen em go for $2K in better nick.  interesting the bore and stroke are stamped on the side.  Must be some kind of competiton measurement thing.  might have some history pity he couldnt do a proper advert rather than 3 lines.

Methinks the bloke selling the first Weslake that Jim listed is a tad loose with the dates. He talks about it being a piece of history from the seventies but the frame is a centreport which didn't hit the scene until the early eighties and the engine is a Mk5, from the mid 80's.

This is a rare chance to grab a piece of speedway history from the 70s. The engine in the bike is definetly one of my factory WESLAKE engines, (this is why I brought the bike back) I know this because of markings on the main engine parts. All the rest of the bike is exactly how I used it, but I cannot say 100% all the frame parts are the original ones. I have rebuilt it as one of the bikes that I rode in 1978 (except for the chroming and polishing) I have had to change the cylinder head as the original was cracked, the Jawa frame, forks, Talon wheels, 3 spring Jawa clutch, the seat and gold fibreglass is all as it was in 1978. It has a very rare Gardener carb which I used on and off over the 1978 seaon.  As it is a bit tempremental I will supply a Dellorto  or Amal with the bike as well...It is ready to ride or show

LIKE i said people selling stuff these days seem to know stuff all and ask the world or ask the world and know stuff all  ??? ??? ( think about it....)

You would think if they wanted to get a decent quid for somthing they would spend 10 mins surfing the net to at least get some fact or information down pat.  And if not just be honest and say so and price it accourdingly, with a fair staring price and see where the market puts it.

Just wondering where we can date the first centre port from. I bought my Mk 1 Wessie in a godden longtrack frame from Don Stafford in March 1978, have the receipt for $2200. and is stamped 77236.  I had a 2 valve Jawa at the time also, but was able to buy a centre port diamond to fit the wessie in for speedway. This must have been around late 79 i think, but cant be sure. Still have the diamond but uncertain if it has a date stamp. (memory is like my riding ability-diminishing)
