Identifying CR-M shocks
« on: September 07, 2011, 09:44:39 am »
I have a set of early (73-74) CR alloy bodied shocks that I'm trying to identify.

They have 12.5mm shafts & dual springs, one 5.5mm dia wire & the other 7.5mm dia.

Can any of the honda experts tell me if they're 125 or 250 shocks?

My 73/74 CR250 is equipped with the stock shocks. The spring wire dia  measures 5.57mm on the smaller springs and 7.62mm on the larger. The shafts are 10.00mm.  Hope that helps.

I was under the impression that the 12.5mm shafts didn't come until '75 but not 100% sure.

Thanks guys.

I did wonder if they might be 75 CR250M1 shocks, but as far as I can tell from pics in the 75 mags, they used a single spring per shock, not dual springs. (Of course, these ones could have been changed)

Can anyone confirm if the 12.5mm shafts only came on the 75 M1's?

we just fixed 2 pairs for the nats to put on our bikes one set was off a 125 the other off a 250, they were differant only in the shaft size everything else looked the same ( inc springs) i think one was 10 and the other was 12 so im guessing your are 250 regardless of what year.

Yes the bigger shafts came out on the 125 & 250M1 models.
