I was a Suzuki nut when I was a kid, worked for a Suzuki & Bultaco dealer (Alan Lambert Motorcycles in Mordialloc) on Sat mornings while still at school in '73, first race bike was a TM125L, Dad rode a TS125 (which I soon hot-rodded with TM bits to win the club trailbike class).
Stepped up to an RM125A which I thought was the ultimate; I remember all my mates sitting with me at our local Suzy dealer (and my sponsor) Bryant Suzuki, we were saying "what the hell can they do to a motorcycle now?" Not even considering water cooling, monoshock or disc brakes LOL.
Roger D, then Gaston were my pin-up hero's, on my A I even had to wear the Heckle boots. Then the RM125B came out, I thought was even more perfect with leading axle forks and 54 x 54 bore/stroke but I stepped up to a RM250B, then I got my licence and swapped my RM250B for a TS185B, then found love with something other than 2 wheels but that novelty wore off after 2 years, I tried a come-back with another RM125A up against the T models but got smoked.
I've started restoring a 125B now, I think the alloy tank models represents a time in my life & racing that was special, the start of long travel and my devotion to the bible Motocross Action.
