anyone interested in trials?
« on: July 14, 2011, 12:53:22 pm »
Go to www.trials.com.au for info on this great sport. There are comps held in NSW, VIC, SA and QLD very often and next year Australia will be hosting a round of the World Trials Championship in VIC.

I'd like to have a crack at trials one day. A TL, Cota or TY is on the long-term wishlist.

I saw an ad somewhere that we'd secured a round of the WTC. I had a quick look around that website, but couldn't see where it will be held.

dont you do trials when you are too worn out for vmx, then you take up lawn bowls and when that gets too  hard you start trials? ;D

Crap, I've got it backwards then seeing as this season was my first racing while I've been riding trials for almost 20 years

Tsk Tsk. Stones and glass houses.........sidehack lubber!
How do you think the saying 'hanging around like a third wheel' was inspired? Sidecar punters are jealous of trials riders skills and universal popularity.  8)

when you see a 13 year old skip Clubman and go from juniors to C+ grade, you appreciate the skill! I'm in a comp battle with a 78 year old in Clubman grade, and he can ride bloody well! Even tho the sidecars have that 3rd wheel, you should see where and how they get thru the sections! INSANE!
I'll have a gander at the site and get some info on the World Champs next year.

Gotta admit the outfits are entertaining. They are at their best once the riders have been divested from their perches..........a ghosting chair certainly has a mind of its own! :o  :D

If you want to improve your VMX riding, get yourself a trials bike and spend some time on it doing the slow stuff. The skills you learn riding over logs and boulders, up embankments and down through gullies really hone the basics of weight distribution, throttle/clutch/brake control, overall balance and body movement required with all bike riding.

Ask any of the top riders in road, motox and enduro what they do in their spare time and I bet some tight trail or trials riding will feature there somewhere.

It's great fun and something different to break the same old, same old routine of going fast. Often it's harder to go slow.

I came from trials to VMX. I was surprised at how fit I was - it required less effort on the mx track! My speed was about the same though............

i've used my TY250 as a trials and trail bike for years, I might not be as fast as others, but i can get into the hills quicker and the tight spots easier...oh and that fat chick, they will all want her!

Agreed. I tend to ride less 'recklessly'. Skirt the puddles, look for alternative lines, ways to conserve myself and ride tidily.
