Freaky, how can you say a 360 in a 250 frame doesnt work when they are exactly the same......the only different parts are the cases, crank, barrel, piston, head and exhaust......everything else is the same?.....besides, you can put a RT1 reed type barrell on it and have a pro port the shit out of it and do it that way......or are you scaring everybody off it to have it for yourself. ;D

Well you just try it Davey.......... the rear studs are in a differant place and space to a RT1  go check ..... oh wait your dont have one right !    ::)

THE YZ360 is a completely differant case to the RT1 the rear studs are wider and unless you know what your doing and can Ali weld and rebore and sink in new journals all the way down in the cylinder it ant going to happen.  But your welcome to try davey,  please buy it and see.


John, I never said a 360 wont work in a 250 frame read it back.  what i said was given the choice as tom also has said a 250 in its 250 frame makes a great race bike.  Sticking a 360 in a 250 works but other than open class what else are you going to ride it in ????  with the 250 you have a super responsive bike you can race in the 250, the all powers and so on. its a much more versitile option.  Im happy for you to buy a 360 and park it in your shed, cause trust me thats about all the use you will getout of it.  honestly.

I run a DT1 bottom ends on my YZ barrells and vise versa.  IF i was going to built another 360 i would just use a whole RT2mx donk and work from here as you have a lot more options and a lot more scope for tweeking.  Just my opinion.

  Here is a picture of my bike with the 360 motor in it  Ran this setup last year w/ a 250A motor and won the 40+ Ahrma Championship w/ it

 Tom whats the pipe ? PRoform .... and are those novations legal over there ?
any advantage to switching to running the rear brake over the top or is that to clear swing arm issues

Proform pipe , Legal Novation arm , Ohlins , PVL ignition , 75 MX250 airbox, RaceTech emulators in forks , Excel rims w/ Michelin S12 rear 756 dunlop front , V Force reeds , Nikasil bore , Aircraft aluminum axles and pivot shaft ,Original (70's era) Renthal high bend bars , And K.Jury hooked me up w/ a set of Aluminum 36MM triple clamps which are being installed currently. Weighs in at a feathery 205-210lbs. My arse tells me that the 250 motor is the way to go due to winning last year against many open bikes and pulling many a holeshot . The rear brake rod would hit swingarm if turned the original way so I flipped it up and it works perfect w/ no clearance issues , stays up and out of harms way, i bent it in 2 spots so that it will straighten before locking rear wheel up and it works perfect. T

My humble apologies for talking out of my arse  ;D, they say you learn something every day....at least where not talking about that new tax.......Ive only played with my 250A.....and I'm in the process of doing a trick B.......have OW25 forks for it, mag front hub, trick custom George Mac rear shock with 8 3/4in of travel, OW sidecovers, OW guard extender, OW style R/H exhaust, OW style tank paintjob and a cool motor.......trick crank, long rod, O-ring head gasket, OW reed block and intake, etc, etc

If you have to shift barrel studs you can do it without any welding.  Just turn up some threaded alloy plugs and screw them into the old stud holes.  Then drill and tap the new stud holes.  I had it done once to fit shovel barrels and heads onto evo cases  on a Harley. It was a piece of piss to do.

Ah shovel top end on Evo, now we are talking quality motorcycles. I think with a Harley you have a bit more room to work.
