Honda TL125 - Side Covers
« on: August 10, 2008, 06:07:24 pm »
For better than 10 years i've been playing with a 76 TL125. I'm now at a point where i am sick and tired of looking at it not finished. With all the mechanicals completed, all that is left is to paint the tank and guards and get a set of side covers.

I've searched the web and found that Sammy Miller has repro covers, but factor the exchange rate and the over the top purchase price and you end up with a set of side covers that are worth 1/2 the price of the bike and i just cant justify them. Does anybody have an idea where i can get a set of repro's at a fair price?

Thanks, Bahnsy.

No, I am in a similar situation, and would love to find a supplier of both sidecover and mudguards for my 1976, TL125.

One person I thought of was Anthony Suttor (Vintage Dirt - advertises in VMX mag). I know he can do replica fibreglass items for Bultaco and Yamaha trials bikes but have never asked if he has TL125 sidecovers to copy from.
Blue Monday (can't remember the blokes actual name) from Victoria was making fibreglass replica parts for trials bikes a few years ago. Theres also someone at Tenterfield and advertising on eBay making fibreglass replica parts for TY Yamahas.
There are lots of people capable of making fibreglass replicas of sidecovers and seat bases. The hard bit is getting hold of the items to copy. How about asking for help on the trials website? www.trials.com.au Theres sure to be a few people with TL125 parts that look at that site.

Bahnsy,

I was at a swap meet at Balhannah SA last weekend and Graham from REPLICO Motorcycle Products (www.replicofairings.com) was selling some of his wares. He had fibreglass replica sidecovers for the TL125 for sale at $90 AUS ea (which is a bargin now that our dollar is worth bugger all oversea again).  They looked like they were well made and had aluminium lug moulded into the covers.

He has just started making them so thay are not shown on his web site or in his current price list.

Gunna bump this one up the list in case there has been someone that has started to reproduce them.
There are a couple of people in the states that have done them but at $250 landed in Oz it a bit past steep.
