I have always disliked Gold Stars, not sure why they just look so ordinary/

On the other hand 29K for tasty 350 Manx out of UNZUD looks very realistic ... and far from ordinary, make mine Manx or 7R

I think this is the one i seen at Gatton swap meet a few years back... he was wanting a million for it then.

"This is very first BSA Goldie, sold 15th February 1938 ....." a truly unique bike, although not totally original ".....from a crash or a frame failure in 1939 and rebuilt with a second hand frame in the 50's.....".

It doesn't even present well - rusty bolts, dirty etc etc.

I would guess the bike was never worth the asking price although now I think the market is shrinking as the older riders who associate themselves with the Goldie fall off the perch or struggle to make ends meet in their retirement. And there in lays a lesson for all collectors I think.

I wonder how much this owner paid for it. It sounds like he has rebuilt it himself so I would guess no where near this price. I think he might be 'trying it on' - not that you could blame him for that. How else could you establish the value of it.

The best chance is for a museum to get interested would be my guess.

I don't know the Old Pommy Bike market but my guess would be $30-40,000.

Guide says 12-15 K GBP so whats that at the top end, 22 thou and change. But it is always open to market condition and who exactly wants it.

They look much better in race trim with all the road shit ground off

BUT the GoldStar was warmed over road bike, nothing is as pure as the Manx....well nothing until the TZ750 showed up.... I would take my money and do Summerfield short stroke Manx, McIntosh Frame, Ceriani GP front, Fontana 4LS, OH and make the brakes and gearbox magnesium

That BSA flat tracker is very different from the 188k roady. It's a sixties DB34 in a Sonic frame.

the sonic is a copy of a gen bsa flattracker made in 1957 and 1958 for the usa market only.the gen bsa ones have the oil tank on the rhs under the air filter
