Hi there,

Up for Auction is my Cappra 414 VF. It's one of three 414's that I own and because I don't do a whole lot with it (except steal bits off it for racing spares) I've decided to put it out to pasture and hopefully get enough funds to send me on a missionary trip to deepest, darkest Africa to sell a little God to the locals....

The engine on this bike had a new piston,big-end and conrod in it about fifty hours ago (I used to run an hour meter on it). I checked the top end on it after its last ride a couple of years ago and everything was snug and sound. Didn't even require rings. I put a new 3rd and 4th gear in it only because the dogs were showing a little wear. It received a brand new 40mm Bing carb at about the same time. It starts within a half-a-dozen kicks cold (we're talking Ballarat cold) and usually first kick all day long after that.

If you flay away at the kick-starter like it's a 125 at best it'll never go/worst you'll end up in emergency.... There's a way to startin' 'em.

Pipe is in good condition.

I've put as much original stuff on this bike as I could and there's lots of good bits like original levers, adjusters, kicker and such.

Matching frame/engine numbers

The fuel tank has billet adaptors and universal taps.

New seat foam/cover.

New air-filter.

Montesa guards.

The not so good

Although it has Excel rims on it the holes were never aligned for the hubs and some bend at the nipple. It can be fixed by a wheel man however I raced with these wheels for about three years with them the way they are and had no probs (ho-hum).

I bought the muffler thinking it was a full one however it's an arrestor and is a bit on the loud side. You could easily turn it into a full muffler with some welding skills and would be nice and quiet.

The rear shocks (apart from being about 10 mm too short) are new but I only put them on for the sake of moving the bike. There's no way I'd be seriously trying to ride or race this bike with 'em on. Take 'em off and sell em to some drugged up new age sculptor, sell them to some heavy haulage company or just chuck 'em to the shit-house. It used to have a nice set of YSS on it and it handled real nice (now on my racer).

Forks springs will most likely be way to soft for most.

Sidecovers are factory set. A bit of plastic welding and some scrubbing and they would come up good. Alternatevly there are aftermarket ones. Factory's always best....

These are great bikes to race in the Evo class. They are only four speed and if geared correctly (most modern tracks suit them) will happily chug around in third and forth gear carving lines where other big-bores fear to tread. If you tap away at the gear lever like a beginner then you're gunna hit neutrals. Third and fourth is all you need.

If however you just wanna add it as unique big-bore to your collection it would take little to fully restore it back to its former glory like the one in the second to last pic (number 9). Only 339 VF 414's were produced so they're pretty rare but easy to keep going if you want to race one.

I will help all I can with assistance in shipping where possible

I'm starting this auction at one buck. I'd really like it to go to a deserving home. All money raised (might) go towards me helping the people of Awingjunga get those tusks out of their noses and becoming good Christians (and taught all about how democracy works and how to use a machine gun/claymore/RPG)

Thank you

Ross

This auction will run down to the last second. The bike won't get pulled. I'm happy with where it's at now.

If however the price is bid up and then those bids are pulled within the last day then eBay will be notified.

Just bid what the bloody thing's worth to you or don't bother.......

Ah, Nimm Rosso at his best: Funny, blunt and bewildering all at the same time.

The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.
