Some people here may be able to help with this.....

SMCC MEMBERS BULLETIN:
---------------------------------------

Dear current and former SMCC members and friends,

We urgently need your help!!

We are in search of any old photographs, video footage, printed articles, event programs or other documents you may have of events held at McAdam Park, Barrabool, particularly grass track, trials, pony expresses and motocross events from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

These documents will assist us in ensuring that our historical usage of the facility can continue well into the future and also provides us with historical documents for our own records.

If you are able to scan these and send via email to [email protected], or in hard copy to the club over the weekend (drop at clubroom between 12.30-5pm Saturday or Sunday), that would be very much appreciated.  We can photocopy documents for you at the clubrooms so you can keep originals.  Any information received this week would be most helpful!

Also very helpful would be Statutory Declarations from ex members or anyone who may have attended one of the many and varied events held over the years, especially those held on parts of the property other than the MX track.

The smallest bit of info will help! Information as simple as remembering what date an event was held could be vital! Think back, what can you remember???  Who was there??  What model bike did you have???  What car did you own??  Who was President of the club?  All these may help jog your memory about specific details of an event.

Please start passing on the word as this need for information will continue for some months.  Word of mouth is vital in reaching old members whom we have lost track of, you just never know what stories they may have, and we have to reach them!

Phone enquiries can go to President Brian on 0408314418

CONGRADULATIONS ...Hope they have many years of good times

Geelong Motocross Victoria has a reputation for running quality events at both club and state level and at 46 years of age is looking to the future with the club moving to the famed Barrabool circuit and introducing a new website.

They have produced some brilliant riders in its history including Australian Champions Jason Polakow, Steven Andrew, Troy Dorran and current three times National Champion, Jay Marmont. Many more GMCC members have gone onto win state and National titles particularly within the junior ranks.

Ya gotta love a good old club day...  :P

The hills around Victorias Barrabool MX track are soon to see some exciting Natural Terrain racing action with the running of the Sporting Motor Cycle Club grasstrack motocross on Sunday May 15th.

The event is the second of the clubs new format Senior Sundays being held at McAdam Park near Geelong.

The days involve club level racing for senior riders 16 years of age and older and are intended to be low key but with a big emphasis on serious fun. The overriding theme for Senior Sundays is to appeal to a broad range of riders by offering a variety of Natural Terrain MX events.

S.M.C.C. Club Day Coordinator, Andrew Fratantaro says, "Our first Senior Sunday last month was a standard Motocross event which was a big success with riders - the track was in great nick and everyone had plenty of ride time and lots of choices of classes. We also got to tryout our new format program which worked a treat, it is designed around everyone helping with the event for a short stint but not missing any racing time, the riders loved it!"

The May 15 event has classes for just about any dirt bike rider ranging from first timers wanting to have a go, to top level MX riders wanting extended practice time and longer races. Other classes include Vets Over-30 and Over-40, Enduro, Clubman (new comers and part time riders), 2 stroke, Pre '85, Women and the feature Transmoto 10 lap final which is run as a handicap.

Fratantaro continued, "This time we are having a grasstrack natural terrain MX utilising areas of these hallowed hills that saw action from the famous Thumper Nats and Oceania circuits, which guarantees it will be a blast! We hope this months format will bring out a few more of the Enduro and occasional racers, whilst the hilly track will still be challenging for the top MX riders who know what race lines are all about. The final event for the day is a handicap race based on riders performances from the day, and if it is as close as the last one it will be the race of the day!"

New members are welcome and the club is offering incentive subsidies for non members who want to see what Senior Sundays are all about. Future Senior Sundays are planned for June 19th and July 31st.

Sign in begins at 7.30 am. McAdam Park track is located on Haines Rd, Barrabool, 10 k's west of Geelong off Barrabool Rd.
