I have to agree with Firko and TM Bill, those 81' 490s are just magnificent as they are. Whenever I see one of those Frankenbike abominations or a Maico with some bizarre colour scheme, I just want to puke!

Ahhhh...it was Herb Shmidt not Heinz Kingadner who made the alloy/steel swingarm comparison in my earlier post. He commented that the alloy arms didn't offer any advantage and actually didn't offer as much chassis 'feel'.

i saw Herbert ride that bike a few years ago at mid Ohio. Bike runs Great. is that a delorto carb on it? ???
