« on: February 14, 2008, 04:15:10 pm »
Working in AFrica on a FIFO roster has slowed the project down somewhat what with being away 2 months at a time but this morning after changing out a brand new "dud" plug the young lady fired for the first time aftera complete motor rebuild - of course now I cant wait to get it out there to ride it!!!!

cheers

sky blue = 350 yz360 = 351cc considered a 350 for racing (I think the rules allow 1% margin to allow for rebores). Gary Flood use to use sky blue plates.

bugger - better go back to the book and have a look now.

In 2 weeks time we have our first tuning day (if family committments allow) - hope to have the suspension restricted by then and the motor run in so I can give it a hard time.  Then back home, clean and crated for going across to Tassie.  I have to do mine soon as when I next return home from work will be the Nats in Tassie!!

I think it is common practice to use black on yellow, they all run together in the open class anyway. The sky blue would be distinctive and maybe some psych out value  ;D.

To my eye the sky blue looks right because of Gary Flood.

My 350 Maico wore blue plates for the first few years of its life but when the 350 class was dropped in the late 70s we moved over to the 500 class. I think MA may say something if you tried to race with blue plates at a championship meeting. If you aren't that fussed about championship racing, go for it. Blue looks great and I may put the old Maico back on blue plates for CD5 for a bit of nostalgia. The blue used isn't my idea of sky blue however. To me sky blue is the same colour as the background on this page. The proper blue is a darker blue similar to the top OZVMX bar on this page.

Those YZ360b's are one of the best looking and trickest vintage MX bikes around, always wanted to own one. It was Trevor Flood that rode a YZ360b, Gary rode Bultaco's.
