I just picked up another old IT400C.. It looks like it may be a NSW bike (i.e. imported by the NSW Yamaha distributor back in 1976.. was that McCullough Yamaha??) It has the remains of a red sticker on the left fork leg on which I can vaguely make out Hornsby as part of an address.
But the thing that struck me about it was that it has a few neat little customisations... Not the type of thing you'd expect Neville Nobody to do to his 10 year old thrash bike, but more the type of things a racer may do to his current race bike..
I'm hoping someone may recognise the handywork and maybe put some history to this bike..
A neat little splash guard around the pipe to maybe stop water/mud ending up in the airbox inlet?
A nice receptacle for the fuel tank breather hose - definitely non-standard..
And a fair bit of effort put into drilling out the shifter lever... Not sure the reasoning for this. Maybe to lessen the chance of bending the change shaft from an impact to the lever??
But quite neatly done anyway..
