VMX/ Pre 90's in Mackay area

HI Guys

Anyone got any info on VMX in the Mackay area? is there a following? Club? Track? Etc

im new to the area and wanting to join a club

There is not a dedicated VMX club in Mackay as far as I know, but there has sometimes been an Evolution class run at the Gum Valley track in with modern meetings. I have even raced my pre '75 Maico there. Gum Valley is at Koumala, which is about 40km south of Mackay and is probably one of the best tracks in Australia. This year's 4 day enduro Championships will be run in the Koumala area and I imagine that the MX special tests will be run on the Gum Valley circuit. The closest VMX club would be in Proserpine, which is about 120km north of Mackay. I have heard that the local vintage racers are trying to break away from the Whitsunday Dirt Riders to form their own dedicated vintage club . There is also the new vintage club in Townsville (400km north of Mackay) and I have heard talk of another club maybe starting up in Cairns soon.

sorry "Old" i have never been on a sidecar, but im up for all new experiences:)

i am presuming it has more than 4in of suspension?
