'76 AW325 PVL timing?
« on: February 25, 2011, 10:57:05 pm »
Hello Maico guru’s, I am in need of a bit of info for a friend of mine who has a ’76 AW 325cc (it was a 250 but was not torquey enough for his big size so he got a 325 cylinder assy…an overbored version of the 250 he tells me).
Anyway it didn’t have an ignition so he has put a PVL ignition on it but the instructions don’t really say what timing to set it at. So he took a stab at it, and she runs and starts ok, but still not very strong at all he says (comparing to his 325cc Bultaco…must be bad eh!). He has a 32mm Mikuni fitted.
Has anyone got any timing info on this setup.
I would have thought the original timing would suffice seeing as no stroke alteration was changed. (Which is what by the way?)
Mick

I'd be starting with a bigger mixer......32mm is for a 125.
QVMX.....Australia's #1 VMX club......leading the way.

Yeah, I think I got that carb size wrong Davey. It is more likely to be a 36mm, not a 32.

Yep, its Stevo's bike Rossco.
Thought I'd ask on his behalf, cant have a Maico going slower than a Bultaco can we??
