Jared's Top Ten Monties - Part 2.
« on: January 29, 2008, 05:32:07 pm »
6/Cappra 250 MX (63M) grey tank model, early version, white frame.

7/ Cappra 414 VG  (66M) last of the big bore mxers

8/ Cappra 250 VG  (73M) last of the 250 mxers.

9/ Impala Cross 175 (13M) 75 units produced!

10/ Cappra 414 VE/VF (66M)

How did I go Jared? Fair representation as intended. I not too convinced with the later models - all labled 66M but substantially different :( ::)

All good except for the VA 360. Here's a photo of the real deal
unrestored, unmolested!

I'm been confused about this for a little while. Did all VA come with c/mount clutchs or just some?

The VA 360's came with the crank mounted clutch for about 6 months after introduction.  There were problems with it pretty much from the start.
Montesa then would send us the parts to do the change over if someone came in with the early style and had problems.  We sold around 10 of them (small dealer)
and 6 came back to be fixed  So there are early models running around !  After we did a few of the conversions, the new VA360's all came thru with the changes.  I have a customer who has an early model and he has been riding it for some 20 years without any problems!

So it's all VA360 with C/mounted clutchs and some VB360's.

Early model 76' VA 360's had the clutch mounted on the crank.  Mid year and later 76' VA360's had the clutch on the primary shaft.
All VB 360 models starting in 1977 had the primary shaft mounted clutch.  I know that there is a brochure that shows a
77' VB with the clutch mounted on the crank, but it is incorrect.
