Keeping old seat covers soft?
« on: January 25, 2011, 02:59:51 pm »
Apart from renewing the seat cover, what types of creams etc can be used on old seatcovers? I have used babyoil with some success on some TY seats but is there a commercial product that will do a better job?

I like to keep the baby oil for the plastic sheets...... No really i think the old ad goes Stop the Rot Armoural.. makes them a bit on the slippery side, but back in the seventies it was all anyone used and with good results i guess, even on those hard plastic dashboards. They say it keeps some sort of thing plastisizer or some thin in the plastic . seemed to work on my seats.
When in DOUBT GAS IT!!!

Hmmm... plastic sheets?  Did you try the armourall in the sheets as well ?;D  I used it years ago on seats and stopped because of that slick feel. Seeing the bikes are mostly restos and I won't be riding them as much I will try it again. Thanks for the advice.
