I always felt the PULL was harder than a 15 boy year old watching porn hub video's ;D

No really Monty's are not that bad the thingy that moves the clutch plates is right there with the clutch so there is little to go wrong.

Pull the clutch cover off and remove the actuator shaft, check for bending/damage. Clean and polish the shaft and check the casing bore for damage, grease well and reassemble. The little lever at the bottom of the actuator also wears along with the pusher button (can not think of what else to call it).

Thanks Monty, I've being working on just that  8). It all pretty good, just cleaning things and checking.

Has anyone extended the clutch activating arm of a Monty?

To me it's seems a surprising mod because I would expect various ratios been screwed up and some sort of compromise being reached, but I've read that such a mod has been successful and is recommended for other makes and models. Anyone tried it?

When I got the 360 it had this mod done. It does make the clutch pull lighter but you can't get the plates to dis-engage enough even with the lever pulled in. There's no way you'll get it back into neutral with the motor running and you'll burn out a clutch in no time.

I can't stress it enough. If the cable is routed properly, lubricated with the Amal levers they're no more harder to pull in than anything else. ???

Thanks Ross, that's the type of compromise I'd expect - the OEM engineers generally get the mathematics right (ratios, leverage, pressures etc). Thanks again - worth the ask ;) :).

If you can find one NOS an XT 550/600 lever and perch had some ratio that made the pull light.

You'll still run into the same problem with not getting the clutch to dis-engage enough. :(
