MAV - State Champions in Dirt disciplines
« on: November 20, 2010, 09:23:01 am »
i recently looked at the MAV website to see if there was a listing of Victorian state champions in MX. DirtTrack, Enduro & speedway, in particular I am interested in the years 1970 - 1995,  foolishly thinking it would be there, not so. ???

I emailed the MA and got a reply stating that

"We don’t have any of those records in our office as we have recently changed locations. After speaking with people here they feel that we wouldn’t have any of those records from that far back, especially on site at MV."

that far back shit it wasn't if i was asking for everything from 1928 formation to now. so my reply to that was

Thanks for the reply, are you telling me MA has no record of State champions back to 1970 ?

and got this back

I have done some investigating into your enquiry. At the moment we don’t have anything on hand, although we are looking through our files that we have stored on site. If we are able to find anything, it will go straight up onto our website, but there are no guarantees that we will have them stored.

again from me.

I feel for historical purposes this data needs to be added to the website. as an ex competitor  for many years I am disappointed it does not already exist

i will keep at them as recording motorcycling history is important, i would hate to see this info lost forever (it may already be the case) i cannot believe that the state controlling body has not addressed this issue till now. as a member of the DMCC which started in 1931 we have records of club stuff way back, although some was lost in a fire some time ago. in the digital age this stuff should be recorded and archived NOW.

those that feel strongly in this i suggest you do same to your LCB's. never been a fan of how MA operate and i know its easy to criticise ( if you want change you need to get involved) but this is basic stuff.

I know how frustrated you feel Hoonsta..Stuff gets buried, stolen, unreturned, lost or burnt.  :'(
Someone needs to be employed full time to archive photos, results and all paper work onto disk for future generations.
Some people just have no idea  ::)  or don't give two hoots for the past  >:(
If your keen, I'd be on thier door step, consistancy will pay off.  :P
Good luck in finding the results.
cheers

i will keep at them with emails till i get a result. if not i will then ring them and then take it to club level as an official request , if that fails then i will ask MA delegate to table it at the next MA meeting, etc etc.

i am fully expecting that they will blow me off, they are more interested in raising money as a business and ripping of small clubs that doing anything for the betterment of the sport ( maybe i'm just old and crusty)

MV are experts when it comes to losing information.
The Preston Mcc lent MV $50,000 about 20 years back to help with the upgrades at Broadford on the agreement that it would slowly be paid back....they just happened to lose their copy of the agreement so have never paid it back ???
Looking fo a TZ750 anyone with any leads please PM

bugger, will they NOT honour the Preston clubs copy. that's a lot of money for a club.

UPDATE....  i go a reply from MAV saying they have passed this enquiry onto their media Dept' as follows. i have been sending them a email per week.

I have passed your email onto our media and communications department.

From now until the first half of next year they will be going through our files that are in storage and on site and whatever information regarding results from previous years, will be put on our website and accessible to the public.

Hopefully they will be able to find plenty of information and add some valuable info and memories to our website.

I think they are trying to blow me off, i will follow it up in the new year at club Level for the MA delegate to table at a general MAV meeting..

Keep on it Hoony.
I would be interested to know the results as well.
Its sad to think that guys fought it out for a title that no one cares about.

Not that far back Drakie found the results of Aust. champs dating back to the 50's and offered to e-mail it to anyone that was interested.
Strangely he only had 3 replies ???
