Hi everyone, another newbie
« on: December 18, 2010, 04:17:43 pm »
Hi there everyone

I've recently purchased an '84 KX125 for the grand sum of $660 off ebay.  It's complete and runs, but does need some work, it will get a full strip down and bits replaced, new bearings, frame painted, new plastics, rebuild shock & forks etc.  The engine will get a once over and maybe rings/piston.

I've been road racing the last couple of years on a ZX9R but a work transfer to 500km west of Townsville has prompted the sale of that bike and purchase of the KX, there is an active local bike club and also clubs/tracks in Townsville.  Haven't ridden a mx bike in clost to 20 years with my last bike being a '83 YZ125.  The rebuild of the KX will probably be slowish (6-12 months) given that I can't just pop down to the shops to get any bits I need.  Also, have to get all new riding gear, that's all changed in 20 years  ;D

Gidday Bishboy.

Internet shopping is the way to go bud.  You'd be surprised what the posyman will bring you - no matter where you are in Oz ;).  You will get on well with the North Qld boys, they are great bunch of blokes.  Do yourself a favour and get to some of the events on the Atherton Tablelands as well.  You won't be sorry.  Now get off the computer and go pull that bike apart  ;D
Looking for YZ250C parts NOS if possible

The only triple jumps he would have been doing are the hop, skip & jump.

Thanks for the welcome guys.  Picked the bike up the other day, it's what I expected condition wise, swingarm bearings have about an inch of play  :o but at that price its all good

Leave for Richmond (5 hrs west of Townsville) early in the new year, looking forward to the drive towing a big enclosed trailer :-\

Working on the bike won't start until we're settled, unpacked and sorted and I get the new job under control.  Lets hope the dollar stays high so all those parts on ebay are still cheap.  I can't believe a whole set of repro plastics are about $200, I'm used to paying $1,000 for an unpainted set of race fairings :o

I'll just have to talk the wife into some travel for race meeting weekends  ;D
