Do you mean the number plate ??? If so speak to Bill on PE forum. He is the 250B king and may have a spare in his basement or may be willing to send one to DC plastics to replicate. The 250 B front plate is ultra rare and is the hardest one to find, you will find it extemely hard to find a NOS one. Im not even sure that the Australian models had it because i have several magazine tests of new 250B's and they dont have the front plate. The chrome front grills are surprisingly easy to find. Ive got at least one or 2 NOS off ebay, again i think Bill may have a spare so ask him. Paul Miller Suzuki or Two Wheels Unlimited will probably have them. They are both ebay sellers and and have websites. i think i bought one off Paul Miller. I also saw a grill on ebay a few weeks ago but didnt think of telling you.

yeah the number plate, I have a book here dirt bikes down under and pictured is a pe250B but it doesn't have the numberplate it has a yellow petrol cap where the speedo is there is a license plate mounted where the number plate would be.

Does this mean a 250b is road registerable without indicators??

Hi Luke I have just split the cases and it is all good just need to replace bearings and gaskets and put it back together I have nearly enough to build the bike thanks Michael.

So the 250B may or may not have had the numberplate does anyone remember when they were new. :)

Yes back then 77 PE250 was road registerable without indicators, Things only started getting tigher around 79 when Australia requested suzuki Japan start putting blinkers on PE's to meet ADR rules NSW was first. Other manufactuers did the same but not everyone had blinkers at the same time. Some makes only got em in the early 80's and left it as late as possible. All the new ADR/compliance plate issues took a few years to fully come into effect. Now fast forward to 2010 things are a little different. I believe in NSW you need to have blinkers on anything road registered no matter what but they may have exemptions for some old 1920's bikes that are not capable of running blinkers and would just look plain stupid?. In SA, you dont need to have blinkers on the 77 250 or any other PE or bike up to 1993 for that matter. Even if the bike was older than 93 and came out with blinkers, you are allowed to remove them. I do not know anything about Victoria or other states though. So even though you may have been able to register the 250 with no blinkers back then, your new state rules may now require them or may not. You will just have to contact Victorian transport department. Actually if you got to their website you should be able to find all the rego requirements for your state in PDF doc to download. i know all this stuff is on Transport SA site but i have never gone looking for it on the Vic site.

With the number plate i also have a feeling it may have only been an optional item for racing use. ive certianly seen many magazine tests with out them and i doubt the magazines would have automatically taken them off for photo shoots etc, they would have wanted to show the bike as it was with everything on it.

NSW ordained all new road registered bikes being sold to have stop/blinker/horn as of 1st April 1979. All other states then fell in line (pretty much by default). Prior to that, you could register it. (easy rego - think South Australia!)
Good point on the photo shoots. I have multiple Australian photos sans front plate.  I assumed they had removed the plate to mount their rego plate. Anybody who had one new - can you recall?
