Do Monty Kick Start.....
« on: September 23, 2010, 01:00:19 pm »
.........return springs break on a regular basis????? :-\ >:(

part 2165.014

Just trying to start the Bitza and one went 'snap'. I think I have a 'spare' (not really a spare just belong to the other Monty but not currently in use).

Why do I muck with this old shit. I think I'll go back to the kitchen rebuild ::).

1.     Yes once they are old but once you put new ones in they are usually OK. Everyone of my has broken a spring after I get them but once replaced seem OK

2.     Mine usually go Ping or sproing then I go Fu%$#^^. Usually I'm the SNAP according to my wife   ::) ;D

3.     Because you luv em ;) :D. Gotta keep the cook happy  ;)

Since early 1970's can only recall ever changing 2 kickstart springs and not because they broke but were bent maybe i have been lucky.

I noticed a used one sold for 30 bucks on eBay last week.
Southwest Montesa sell them new for 15 bucks and Bultaco Australia for 22.  :D

Sorry for wandering off topic a bit, but I'm new to these Spanish jiggers.

How come that circlip sounds so hard to change?

Is it just because you have to split the engine? Or is there something scary I might want to know about one day?

You have to split the crankcases to replace the circlip.
