RM500 Jetting Question
« on: September 15, 2010, 08:55:02 pm »
Would appreciate any help the technical legends of the forum can provide.

I need to buy some needle jets for my VM38SS carb for my RM465/500.

I need the RO and R2 needle jets which Suzuki calls (6FJ41 & 6FJ42).

My issue is I called Ian Willians Tuning in Adelaide and they are asking for a 2-3 digit number on the needle jet. The R0/R2 and Suzuki references mean nothing to them....

Can anyone help clarify to me what I need to give to them??

Any and all help appreciated!!

fire off an email to these guys. Top carb people in the UK
They appear to have those numbers covered.

I don't know if you are aware but a lot of people get caught out when ordering parts for the VM series.
The vm** SS is a much bigger carb than a standard VM
You need to order VM**SS specific jets and bits

You can still get the parts through suzuki UK, I would have thought a dealer over there could supply them for you.

159 or 166 series is what they are asking for. Should be stamped into the needle jet. They are different and don't interchange.

R-O standard needle jet for 85 RM250, 6FJ40 also standard jet needle. Give Mick Hone a try! You should have a 6FJ41 as your standard needle in the 465. Have a look on the side of it when you take it out of the carb to check the number.
