Rob, you'll have a heck of a time shoe-horning a TS400 into an RL250 chassis due to the TS400's longer engine cases. I'd reckon use the 250 motor whether it be RL, TS or TM250 and you could be onto a good thing. The RL only weighs 90kgs and for a 250 that's pretty light ;)

I have a Hodaks 125 Wombat frame that would suit that TM400 motor right down to the ground.

NUTS!!!,  ;D  but seriously the RL frame has a central spine downtube at the rear which necessitates the barrel having an offset carb mount which the 400 doesn't have.

:D Brett, it ain't such a bad idea it's just a 250 fits and a 400 doesn't ;) I don't even drink an' I all but had an RM400 in an RL ;D selector shaft exiting right where the cradle tube is put an end to my lunacy :-\ Minor problem really but I only do these type of swaps when I can swing it by simply making new mounting plates. I don't like to cut and shut frames as good ideas sometimes often turn into bad mistakes :o least I can always go back when it goes all pear shaped ::)

Thing is Chris I have a frame and a 400 motor I dont have a 250 so unless I fall over a tm250 engine have to work with what I've got

How rare are RL frames?

A few out there...

The original RL's sold like ice cubes in Greenland. Beamish in the UK bought up all the old original stock, binned the frames and fitted the motors into whitlock frames. They sold very well.

So, to answer your question, RL frames aren't worth a lot.

I'd say in reply to that, they must be rare if they all got thrown in the bin, I'd also agree they are not worth much cant even get rid of em for a case of beer so do something stupid with one!

shit or no shit the stock RL's are becoming quite popular 8) I love riding mine and don't have any issues with it or the way it rides ;)  I may not ride trials but it's been a heck of a lot of places I'd never attempt on a regular bike. A case of beer it is Brett, I'll have to get my arse over there as I need that seatbase since donating mine to my bro to finish off his RL ::) will give you a call ;)
