  Try and build this bike for t 3.5k being asked and you wouldn't get it half done before busting the budget. I owned this model KX briefly and reckon they're a sweet unit, very fast, worksy, quite ridable without the arm wrenching power of the later KX500. It's in Orange County, Southern California too which makes transport a breeze. Cool bike.

Nearly every steel fastener replaced with Titanium or Aluminum at a cost of over $2,000. Almost 17 lbs was taken off the bike. This bike was raced 4 times in 2009 and finished 3rd in class in the country. Rear tire has only one race on it. The bike prepared for 2010 race season, including a complete chassis rebuild and new 1980 plastic. Mounts for 1979 plastic to get 79 Lackey GP look. There weren’t too many Kawi’s raced in 1980 and practically none today. Own this unique piece of motocross history! Lots of extras including unrestored 420 tank. Very nice indeed. I actually prefer the look of the 80 model than my 83 model. I have a 125 A6 which is about 95% complete. They weren't the greatest of models but I love the shape. I saw a few 420's and 250's at CD7 but no 125's. I'm hoping to have it there next year or my 85 M-Star. I saw 1 or 2 of them up there aswell.

Sad as it sounds, I remember the first time I saw one and I've thought they were a very cool thing ever since.
I even bought a manual for one in case I ever ended up owning one............

I bought one of these a year old back in 81 or 82
It made a great trail bike but I couldn't motocross it to save myself.
Still have the manual, must be a lot of them around without manuals
Its one model I wouldn't mind having again one day.

My 1980 250, it was at CD7 and currently raced in Viper series. Dont know of another getting around but could be wrong. There was a 1981 model at CD as well. Owned and raced this bike in 1980.

Mark, The bike might have been at CD7, but i don't think that you saw much of it.
I think that there is a fellow forum member that had a bit of a thing for the bike and diddn't want to hand it back
